Awaiting permanent installation in Smith Campus Center, Pomona College

Every country represented by the students in the Pomona College graduating class is overlaid with a shimmering pattern associated with a region within that country. Each golden design was selected to express individuality, but when seen together, they unite in playful exchanges.

Home is a celebration of our relationships and our accomplishments. On this sculpture, many layers of translucent blue glazes create glowing, swirling oceans which unite the distances between cream colored continents. The land masses are canvases for our human creations. Every country represented by the students in the Pomona College graduating class is overlaid with a shimmering pattern associated with a region within that country. Each golden design was selected to express individuality, but when seen together, they unite in playful exchanges.

It was important to me to create a version of the Earth based less on cartographic precision and more on an inspirational interpretation of this beautiful planet we all share. I hope Home brings you as much joy as it has brought me in creating it for you
